About Us

The Love Field Citizens Action Committee (LFCAC) is a coalition of residents and neighborhoods in the Dallas Love Field (Airport) impact area. Organized in 1980, the LFCAC is a grassroots volunteer based organization made up of people who believe that there must be balance between the interests of the close-in airport and the interests of the densely populated community surrounding it. Close to 55 neighborhoods are impacted by Love Field.

During the 25 years since its formation, the LFCAC has actively represented the concerns of the residents of Love Field area neighborhoods and other entities that are affected by Love Field such as the area schools.

  • Organized a citizens effort which resulted in the adoption of Love Field's first noise abatement program, approved by the Dallas City Council in 1981
  • Developed a solid understanding of Love Field's operations and their impact on the surrounding environment
  • Participated in 23 years worth of Noise Abatement Advisory Committee meeting at the airport
  • Promoted a series of voluntary noise abatement procedures at the airport including one of the earliest and most comprehensive noise monitoring systems in the country.
  • Held numerous community meetings
  • Produced Op Ed articles for local newspapers
  • Researched and recommended municipal ordinances to address noise impact
  • Visited numerous times with elected officials at the local and national levels
  • Testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Aviation (1991)
  • Testified before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Aviation (November, 2005)
  • Submitted legal briefs to state and federal courts
  • Granted countless interviews with the press
  • Participated in the development of the Love Field Master Plan, approved unanimously by the Dallas City Council in April 2002 and subsequently by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The LFCAC represents concerned residents and taxpayers in a large geographic area. According to the Love Field Master Plan of 2001, the Noise Impact Area of the airport is 25.4 square miles. The estimated population was close to 90,000 in the year 2000 -- a population figure that has, undoubtedly, grown in the five years since then. Also, according to the 2001 Master Plan, the estimate market value of the residential properties in the noise impact area was $5.3 billion. The taxable value of all residential properties was approximately $3.9 billion and the total annual property tax contributions from those residential properties was $95.6 million. Like the population, these values have, most certainly, also increased since the year 2000.
